Mississauga Super Visa & Visitors Insurance

Insurance guidance for families welcoming visitors to Canada

When your parents, grandparents or relatives are preparing to visit Mississauga, the most useful quote is one you can understand. Compare Super Visa insurance and Visitors to Canada insurance by reviewing coverage limits, medical stability clauses, deductibles and total policy costs—not just the lowest advertised premium.

For parents and grandparents

A Super Visa applicant needs qualifying emergency medical insurance of at least $100,000 for at least one year from entry, along with the other IRCC policy conditions. Explore the insurance requirements and quote form.

For visitors and tourists

Ordinary visitors may not be covered by provincial public health plans. Check waiting periods, pre-existing condition terms and the policy start date before travel. Compare visitor policies.

For family protection

Use the dedicated term life and critical illness quotation pages to explore protection beyond visiting relatives.

What has changed in Super Visa eligibility?

IRCC expanded eligibility for certain qualifying foreign insurers in January 2025. From March 31, 2026, the government also changed how host income can be assessed for Super Visa applications. These are two different requirements: the insurance policy must independently qualify even when the host meets the income test. Read IRCC's current insurance documentation and 2026 income changes.

Answers before you buy

Frequently asked Super Visa insurance questions

How much Super Visa medical insurance do parents need?

IRCC requires a qualifying health insurance policy with at least CAD $100,000 in emergency medical coverage, valid for at least one year from entry and meeting its other conditions. See IRCC's requirements.

Can I purchase Super Visa insurance in monthly instalments?

IRCC permits an appropriate policy paid in full or in instalments with a deposit. Each insurer's payment terms differ. Ensure you have valid proof of coverage and that the plan meets the current rules.

Are diabetes and blood pressure covered?

Coverage depends on the insurer's medical stability rules, exclusions and your accurate disclosures. Some insurers offer eligible pre-existing condition coverage; it is not automatic.

Is a regular Visitors policy sufficient for a Super Visa?

Only if the policy meets all Super Visa-specific IRCC conditions. Regular visitor policies may have different coverage limits and policy periods.

Can I receive a refund after a visa refusal?

It depends on the insurer and the policy's cancellation and refund terms, including documentation and whether coverage began or claims occurred.

Frequently asked questions.

Helpful information before choosing your insurance policy. Always check the insurer's current policy documents and conditions.

Ask Pankaj a question
How much medical coverage is required for a Canadian Super Visa?

IRCC currently requires at least $100,000 in emergency medical coverage, with insurance valid for at least one year from entry. The policy must cover health care, hospitalization and repatriation, and meet other IRCC conditions. Review the official requirements before buying.

Does Super Visa insurance have to come from a Canadian insurer?

Not always. IRCC also permits qualifying policies from certain foreign insurers authorized by OSFI to provide accident and sickness insurance, provided the policy meets the applicable requirements. Eligibility should be verified using current government guidance.

Can visitors to Canada get coverage for pre-existing conditions?

Some plans offer coverage for eligible stable pre-existing conditions, while others exclude them. Eligibility, stability periods, medical questions and exclusions differ by insurer and plan. Carefully review the policy wording.

What is an insurance deductible?

A deductible is the amount you may need to pay toward an eligible claim before the insurer contributes, as specified in the policy. Higher deductibles can lower premiums, but they may increase your out-of-pocket costs.

What is the difference between term life and whole life insurance?

Term life generally provides coverage for a selected period, such as 10, 20 or 30 years. Whole life is designed to provide lifelong coverage if the policy remains in force, and may include cash value features. Availability and costs vary.

Can I speak with an advisor before purchasing?

Yes. Call (647) 640-2222 or email info@pankajbhatia.ca to discuss your questions. Online application options depend on the insurance product and provider.
